Lots to learn

Today we were learning our letters. We're searching through the rice bin to find letters and matching them onto the sheet.
We used the light bright to make letters. We had to look at our alphabet and find the missing letters and we found our name and then used beads to try and spell our name.

We had lost of investigations going on today. Jaxon made a garage to keep his fire truck dry, Abby learned how a pumpkin becomes a Jack-O-Lantern, lots of Kindergartens learned about why things roll or slide. Liam made bowling, but quickly learned that a golf ball wouldn't work and he needed something bigger. Some friends made skates, but realized they needed elbow pads, knee pads and a helmet and made them out of paper. And lastly, some friends tried to balance the blocks.

Some friends learned about measuring weight. They tested different materials to see which was heavier. Some friends are continuing to investigate patterning/counting. Some students went fishing for numbers, they tried to catch fish in order from 0-9.

In our Halloween Math centres, students are learning to count and recognize numbers, how to measure length (How many cubes long is the skeleton), and how to graph. In addition to graphing  they are comparing items - what has less, what has more.
